The presence of nearby major gold and base metal deposits (volcanogenic massive sulphides – VMS) underscores the mineral potential of the property. The past-producing Lac Shortt mine is adjacent to the property (production of 2,694,920 Mt at 4.59 g/t Au), and the former Coniagas mine is only 20 km to the southwest (718,465 Mt at 10.7% Zn; 1.1% Pb and 182 g/t Ag). The property hosts several gold showings, including the Gand deposit, which is located within a gold-bearing structure and consists of a series of quartz–carbonate veins mineralized with pyrite.
